Add two values is only possible if I use $ or DM as currency, Euro fails

Hi there,

if i try to add two values with this formula:
=SUM(B7;B8) \# "#.##0,00"

it works fine, as long as I set my Windows 2000 SP 4 preferences to $
or DM as system currency. If I set it to EUR, which is used here in
Germany, addition always shows 0,00.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Found the solution:

€ 3
€ 3
€ 0,00

this does not work, because the fields contain the "€"-icon, if you
change it to "EUR" it works fine.

If I change it to "$" it works fine as long as system settings are on
Euro, but if I change them to dollar, it does no longer work.

Would USD then work, it appears the symbol is less important than the
abbreviation.
