Just to clarify, you are saying:

You are checking the spelling, and Word finds a word it doesn't know. You
click Add to add it to your custom dictionary. Word crashes.

Is that correct?

Does your custom dictionary have a language set? Is that language Spanish,
by any chance?

Consistent and reproducible problems in Word usually respond to one of the
standard troubleshooting measures, which you will find listed here:

(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

Work through them one by one until something helps. If nothing does, post
back. Alternatively, test it in a new user account. If the new account
works, switching over to it may be quicker.

Actually, don't bother.

Crashing when you try to Add a word to a Spanish custom dictionary is a
known issue, though in fact I had forgotten crashes were part of the
symptoms. See Patricio's link, which I will repeat. You may need to fix a
URL broken by line wrapping.

You simply can't set the language of a custom dictionary to Spanish and use
it successfully, I'm afraid. As the link above says, a fix should be coming
in the next update. Sorry not to be able to help.
