AddIn for Outlook Express?

Hello All,

Does anyone know how to create an AddIn for Outlook Express?

In advance, please don't tell me how it can't be done because I just
downloaded Plaxo and it can be done because I'm lookin' at their toolbar as
I write this.

You asked how to create one and probably will need the information from the
page Frank posted, at the risk of being completely off the mark I would
suggest he was trying to be helpful and answer at least part of your
question.

Unless you are a very good hacker and have a good understanding of all the
Windows APIs, many of which have little info published, you'll find you're
pretty much on your own. The only information published for OE is the
limited page from MSDN that Frank linked you to. It's not impossible, as
other hackers have found their way around sufficient to do the job. Why
don't you ask the people who wrote Plaxo? I'm sure they'll be willing to
give you all their hard earned knowledge for free. Or get ahold of Steve
Cocran who has written several add-ins. They're all just waiting to give
away for free their hard earned knowledge. Right?

I'm WAY off topic here...

However I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for using the phrase
"hacker" properly. It's about time... Not you, specifically, but "you" the
corporate media brainwashed masses (okay, so I'm trying to avoid a rant)
tend to use the term with a negative inflection when in reality the process
of hacking has nothing at all to do with committing any illegal activities
in and of itself.

So, in short, thank you.

Ah, yes. I remember hacking a new version of DOS to get it to show yellow
on blue before Peter Norton or PC magazine published their hacks. There
were a few other things I liked to change in DOS. Not that I was ever a
very great hacker, but it was fun. Always saved a copy on a boot diskette
for when I messed DOS up enough that it wouldn't boot.

Its still a lot of fun.

I mean, its fun to get it working, but the real fun is in figuring it out.

It took six weeks of fugal hell to get that plain text button to work, but
it does. I enjoyed every minute of it, but especially when it worked.

Embedding fonts in email is another example. I sweated over that for weeks
and was about to give up and one morning at about 6 am, there was the font
embedded. I blinked and then went manic, which you know for me is quite
rare. <VBG>
