Adding a button to add an image in OneNote

I'd like to add a button to OneNote that will run my own app/macro. The
app/macro would request an image identified by a URL and insert it just below
the lowest content on the current notes page. What would be a good resource
for learning how to accomplish this? I typically code in C#, but pretty much
any language would be fine...

You might want to visit the OneNote newsgroup. As far as I know, OneNote only
supports very limited "automation". There's a set of protocols that can be used
to add things to OneNote. But I don't think there's any way (yet) to do what
you describe. However, the OneNote team (who do monitor that newsgroup) would
certainly be interested in learning about what you'd like to do.
