Adding a Contact causes error message

When I try to add a new contact in Outlook 3005 I get the following error
Message:
"The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the error
persists restart outlook." Restarting Outlook doesn nothing, nor does
rebooting the computer.

Sorry about that! I hit the wrong numbers keys. It's Outlook 2003.

There are countless causes for this error message and you've provided no
clues. Search the KB for one that most nearly fits your situation. Or do the
routine fixes: repair PST file and create a new profile.

Today I got the problem fixed by adding a new email account, deleting the old
one and opening the existing .pst file. Thanks for writing.
