Adding a jpeg image to an Word-Outlook Mailmerge

I am creating an Mailmerge for a Contact Address List in
Outlook. I am merging to Electronic Mail and only for
Selected Contacts in an Outlook Address Book. Once in
Word I insert a jpeg image into the Word document and then
add the text and Mailmerge fields and complete the merge.
However upon reviewing the sent e-mail I can see all of
the text and the Mailmerge fieldswith the correct Contact
Details in. But the jpeg image is missing and there is
just an empty space where it should be. I have tried
keying in the {Insert Picture "C:\\location of image file}
line which is used for adding images to labels but I can't
get this to insert the image either. This returns either
the line as I typed it in the mailmerged e-mail or the
message: Error! Cannot Open File. Does anyone have any
ideas how I can insert a jpeg image into a mailmerge??

Which version of Word/Outlook are you using, and which option are you using
when merging:

Plain text (the picture will disappear as only plain text and no formatting
gets through)
As an attachment (the picture should be there in the attached .doc)
HTML (Word/Outlook 2002 or later) what happens may depend on how you
inserted the picture.

I am using Office 2000 with Service Pack 3.

I can send the Word Document as an attachment on an e-mail
and the jpeg file is correctly inserted in the Word
attachment. The problem only occurs when you merge
directly to e-mail from a Word documet.

When you mention the option of choosing whether it is
plain text when merging I'm not sure what you mean. When
I chose to merge and go into the setup options of the
merge I do not see any mention of plain text or HTML. Do
I need to look somewhere else to see this??

In Word 2000 there is no HTML option, so your choice is limited to
checking/unchecking "Send document as an attachment", e.g. in Mail Merge
Helper|Merge...,select Electronic Mail under "Merge To", then click Setup.
Or click the Merge... button in the toolbar, then select Electronic Mail
under "Merge To", then click Setup.

i.e. unchecking means "send as Plain Text" and losing all the images.
