Adding a resource - permissions problems OL2002

Hi everyone,

I have set up a resource for our Video Conferencing
equipment (OL2002, Exchange 2000)

This resource is not emailable and has no delegates. I
have followed the instructions as per
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=196534 and ticked all
three meeting request options in Tools, Options, Calendar
Options, Resource Scheduling. For brevity I have added
the distribution list of "All" (everyone in the company)
to the permissions and set their permissions to Author
level so they cannot delete each others bookings.

However, when the user tries to book this resource they
get an error that says: You marked "Video Conferencing" as
a resource. You cannot schedule a meeting with "Video
Conferencing" because you do not have the appropriate
permissions for that account. Either enter the name as a
required or optional attendee or talk to your system
administrator about giving you permission to
schedule "Video Conferencing".

I looked this error up on the Microsoft support site KBID
299590 and I found a number of workarounds. I tried giving
the troubled user editor permissions to the calendar and
they still got exactly the same error message!!

As a test I also set the administrator account to be a
delegate and auto-respond to requests for the Video
Conferencing equipment and left this account open while I
sent an appointment for the VC equip. I got exactly the
same error message again!!

This is incredibly frustrating. If anyone knows a fix
(rather than a workaround that does not fix) please post
back to this newsgroup.

Many thanks,
Anna

Instead of adding the DL (having everyone in your company as its member) on
Permissions tab of this Resource's Calendar, why don't you just set the
"Default" to "Author" (better and recommended). Try this and let us know if
this makes any difference.
