Adding a running list of weekday dates

Hi, I'm a teacher creating a spreadsheet for my grades. I'd rather not
use a traditional database and just have a spreadsheet I can print
out. The last one I made became a corrupted file and took my mac down
with it. So here I am daring to do it again. What I'd like to know is:

How can I make a list across the top of my spreadsheet that will show
dates (e.g. 9.6, 9.7, 9.8, 9.9, 9.10, 9.13) for a whole trimester or
school year?

I think this must be possible, but everything I have tried has not
worked. Can someone please help me with this?

Thanks so much.

One way:

Enter your start date in, say, B1. Select B1 and as many cells to the
right as necessary. Choose Edit/Fill/Series... and choose Weekday. Click
OK.

An alternative

Enter your start date in, say, B1. CTRL-Click (or right-click if you
have a two button mouse) the fill handle (lower right corner of B1) and
drag as far a necessary. Release the mouse button and you'll get a
pop-up menu from which you can select Fill Weekdays.
