Hi,

When I add a telephone number to a new contact, outlook 2003 crashes out.
An error Id of 1000 is put into eventid.

I have tried service pack 3 and a reinstall but the problem is still occuring.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Need more information including the steps used to create the problem.
Neither adding an SP nor reinstalling would ever fix a pre-existing problem.

Thanks for the reply,

In Outlook 2003 I click the contacts tab and then click new contact.

I can enter all the information in the boxes apart from telephone numbers.

When I try to do this, outlook restarts itself and a event id of 1000 is
added to event viewer and states that the nescessary dll files are not
availble to display the error message.

Yes everything was working fine up until about a week ago.

There hasn't been any changes (updates etc). Would the pst file being
larger than 2GB potentially cause this?

It was created on our 'sbs' server? and I connect to it via outlook.

I have tried finding my pst file to run the repair but struggling to find it
That depends. Did you create this file in Outlook 2003 or an earlier
version? Have you tried to repair it using the Inbox Repair Tool?

find it on my local machine or on the server.

It's usually in a hidden folder. That folder, on Windows XP is
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
On Vista, it's %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook

Only Outlook can create a PST file, so you must have created it with
Outlook. If it was created in a version earlier than Outlook 2003 then the
file size is definitely the issue.
