Adding a Word webpage with a pic

A

Althea

Dear list
As part of my publisher 200 webpages I have some hyperlinks to Word made
webpages and this works fine.
Problem tonight I made a new page in word that had a picture inserted on it.
Saved it as a webpage and loaded it to site..but only the evil "red x" was
where pic should have been.
Read the help info and it said about the extra files being in a separate
folder.
tried to load these as a folder but ftp wouldn't so, loaded the items with
in folder as well as word webpageand still doesn't work.
Question then how do you load this to an existing site
Thanks
Althea

Actually if you are having trouble publishing a Word web you should be in a
Word forum seeking assistance. As for the red x - that indicates the picture
is not found and can't be loaded. This is either because the image file is
not loaded or it's not loaded in the path that the html code has. You can
view the source of the web page and look for the image file name and look at
the path that is in the html and then enter that path in the address bar and
see what happens. I would assume that Word has the same upload function as
Publisher, in which case you want to use the proper publishing - articles on
publishing are at

Sorry for not explaining my self better.
I have majority of web in Publisher.
I had a hyperlink to a word document that had a picture on it.
I saved the word page as a webpage.
Then when finished in publisher I saved as webpage. It saves the page but
doesn't take the folder that comes with word when it has a pic. I tried to
just copy the folder into the publisher folder but it obviously doesn't
recognise it.
I have no probs doing this when the word page is just text, but I can't get
it to do it with a pic.
Why not just make another publisher page? I found that the graphic was
clearer in teh word doc.
Thanks

Confirm that this is version 2000 being used, and post the site url of the
word web page at issue.

It is Publisher/Office 2000. Because of the problems I was having I have
scrapped the word page for now and added another publisher page. I was
loathe to do this incase I had to reload all my site due to adding another
pic. once before I did this and all the pics were renumbered and hence
hyperlinks were wrong.
The site is
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~althea/index.html
It was for the "Tithe Map" in the top right hand box.
So thanks anyway, I'll experiment with the prob on a page that people can't
see!

I don't know enough about your file or what you are doing to know what to
say. But you should go thru all the articles I have on version 2000 at
http://www.publishermvps.com . I have an article there that explains how Pub
names image files. But Publisher maintains those links so unless you are
making manual changes nothing should be wrong. And as long as all files are
in the Publish folder all should be good as well. Unless you are doing
manual stuff. Be sure to review the FAQ as well -

Many thanks
I'll go for a read.
The size of the pages has got away from me. I try to just alter my index
page then delete and update pages, rather than deleting all folder and a
complete upload/
Is that OK, or should you do a complete delete and upload, I use "smart ftp"
As you can tell I'm a complete novice who has just got swept along. Everyone
says I have too much for a Publisher based site and should switch to
Frontpage. But overall it seems to cope.I have 24 publisher pages, which
then have many hyperlinks to mainly excel formed webpages..137 objects in
all.
I'm off for a read of your pages.
Thankyou
Althea
