Hello,
I am trying to add a line or some sort of note to a pivot chart and I'm
wondering how to do it. I will have multiple items but the note only
occurs on one date for each particular item.
For example, let's say that I am keeping track of when I buy an item
(month and year) and when I sell an item (month and year). I want to
add some sort of note automatically to my pivot charts indicating when
I put these items on sale (month and year). For example, maybe I put
all RC Cars on sale May-01 and all airplanes on sale Oct-05. How can I
get the sale date into my pivot chart?
I've attached this spreadsheet as a zip, but basically:
My original data is:
Item Serial Number Date Bought Date Sold Sale
RC Car P00693 Jan-05 Oct-05 May-05
Airplane P00315 Feb-05 Dec-05 Oct-05
RC Car P00253 Jan-05 Jan-06 May-05
I can create a pivot table if I duplicate the data:
Bought/Sold Version S/N Date Item
Bought P00693 Jan-05 RC Car
Bought P00315 Feb-05 Airplane
Bought P00253 Jan-05 RC Car
Sold P00693 Oct-05 RC Car
Sold P00315 Dec-05 Airplane
Sold P00253 Jan-06 RC Car
But I still can't add the date that I have a big sale for each item
category. I have a bought date in the pivot table, and a sold date,
and I could add a sale date, but that causes problems if no sale date
is defined.
Thanks for your time,
Michael
