Thomas Pagel

Hi,

I installed the English Office Beta 2007 and TR from the MSDN download. Now
I want to add the German spell checker. There is no language pack I can
install with it. What can I do?

Thanks,

Hi Thomas,

From http://microsoft.com/downloads search for B2TR, then set the language to German and download the German B2TR and MUI packs and
install those on top of the English language Office 2007 Beta2 with Technical Refresh to get the German Proofing tools.

You will have to go through the joy of removing all Office 2007
applications, reinstalling them as Beta 2 (including the German language
pack) and then patching them to B2TR.
Note that you'll have to install the full English B2TR (400+ MB), the
full German B2TR (400+ MB) and the TR patch for the German language pack
(130+ MB).
There is a section with links to the B2TR downloads on my B2TR issues
page. The German single language pack, you'll have to find in MSDN.

Is all that really necessary, just to get a German spell checker & grammar
checker?

I don't want German menus or keyboards, just spell & grammar checker.

With updates, French & German packs were downloaded the other day. The
French one did provide spell checking, the German one apparently not.

Also, for completely different reasons I did uninstall Office 07 B2TR the
other day, wanting to get a clean reinstallation. I found that with Vista
RC1 I could not reinstall at all (as others had found too) & finally
reformatted the root drive & began with Vista from scratch.

Any help would be appreciated.

The English Office 2007 ships with English, French and Spanish spell
checking. That's where you got the French one from.
Yes, this is necessary. If you don't want to install everything, you can
extract the downloaded German language pack and only install the
proofing part of it. Then you can also extract the full German B2TR and
install the patch for the proofing tools from there.
