Adding an address from the icon on Word XP's taskbar

How can I get access to my Contacts addresses to open in Word?
When using a Word document that I want to add an address to I click on
the address book icon, it asks me for a profile, I select a profile, and as
the window that shows addresses pops up I receive an error that says
"Microsoft has encountered a problem". Word then closes and I am prompted to
send an error report.
I normally use Contacts from Outlook for addresses. It has worked since
I installed the program in 2002 until this past month.
I have repaired, uninstalled/installed, tried creating new profiles,
gotten updates off the web, and continue getting this error. HELP!
