adding an email account to outlook 2003

I have 2 email accounts one is '@msn.com' and I have added it to outlook no
problem.

I have another email account '@myavon.co.uk' and am having real trouble
adding this as I do not know the email server name or URL that avon use for
these accounts. I have asked them the question but they do not seem to
understand what I am asking.

Is there anyway I can add this to my outlook to be able to send and receive
emails or what do I need to ask Avon for them to understand what I need?

Any help or guidence will be greatly received. Thanks

So how did you sign up for this email address?

Ask them if they allow access to their mail servers via a mail client via
POP3 or IMAP or something else.
If they do, ask them for the server settings that you need. We cannot help
you with that as they are unique for each company.

Thanks for the prompt replies. This email account comes as part of a package
with a website given to those of us that are reps for Avon Cosmetics. I have
found out the company that actually created these websites and have contacted
them direct.

I am thinking that it is simply not going to be possible to use outlook. I
don;t think outlook is compatable with this type of email account, but will
await the company's response.

Thanks. xxx

A judicious search of the interweb suggests the following:

- POP3 server = mail.myavon.co.uk
- SMTP server = smtp.myavon.co.uk
- User name = same as your web logon
- Password = ditto.

If those don't work, you'll need to contact the MyAvon helpdesk (via
web-mail). If they do work, you should be aware that pulling the mails
into Outlook will remove them from web-mail).

Good luck.

I don;t think outlook is compatable with this type of email account,
You might want to state that the other way around from a standards point of
view ;-)

William thank you very much for your reply. I have done the set up as you
suggested and got the following error message:

Task 'AVON - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook is unable to
connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive
this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider
(ISP).'

so i tried changing 'mail.myavon.co.uk' to 'pop3.myavon.co.uk' and got the
same message, so I think I admit defeat. Thanks ever so much though to you
all. x
