Adding an equation in an Excel Chart title

L

Laura Holt

Hi everyone!
Is there a way to add an equation in an Excel Chart title, please?

I tried creating an equation object, but I'm not sure how to add that object in the title.

This is Microsoft Excel 2002.

Thanks in advance,
Sincerely,
Laura

Laura -

You can't to it as part of the official chart title, but you can delete
the title, and paste in the equation. You can't add the equation
directly to the chart, so add it to the worksheet, then copy it, select
the chart, and paste. The equation is converted to a metafile picture
when pasted in the chart.

I tested this in Excel 2002.

Laura,
In the chart title you can pick up a cell from the
worksheet containing either text or a formula.

Put in a dummy piece of text for the chart title eg 'x' to
get the automatic title box on the graph, select the title
box, go to the formula bar & type = and cell reference.
This then shows the cell contents in the chart title -
very useful if cell contains date references relating to
the workbook data. You can't put a formula into the
formula bar in the chart title but you can of course put
any calcs you like into the workbook cell!

You can use this technique to put text into a text box as
well.

hope that this helps,
Helen
