I have a spreadsheet with values with multiple columns and about 800 rows.
The columns contain a rather complex array of 50 totals, subtotals, and grand
totals. I often need to add new columns to this spreadsheet based on the
pervious columns. For example, let's say that columns A, B, C, and D are
filled in with values. I am going to add a column E that adds column A, B, C
and then subtracts column D. If there were not subtotal involved, this would
be very easy to set up--just put the formula in the top column and then just
copy it all the way down. But my complex array of totals, subtotals and
grand totals prevents me from doing this.
What I have been doing is starting the column with the necessary totals,
subtotals, and grand totals formulas THEN putting the formula (A+B+C-D) I
want in the top cell in the column and then copying and dragging formula down
to the first subtotal. Then I will copy the formula (A+B+C-D) again, paste
it in the next cell under the subtotal and then drag the formula down to the
next subtotal---etc. etc. doing this all the way down the column--which takes
about ten minutes every time I do it. Sometimes I have to add multiple
columns to this spreadsheet at a time--Is there a better way.
Thank you,
