Adding Cover Letter to Document

I am looking to add a Cover Letter to a document. The document has page
numbers in the corner and I do not want them to change once this Cover Letter
is added to the front. Basically I do not want the Cover Letter to count as
a page. Is this possible to do? Thank you.

Provided the cover letter is just a single page, you can use Format Page
Number to do this. Insert the cover letter and check "Different first page"
on the Layout tab of Page Setup and leave the First Page Header/Footer blank
(except for your letterhead). Or clear the check box for "Show number on
first page" in the Insert | Page Numbers dialog if that's how you inserted
them. In either case, use Format Page Number to start numbering at 0.

You'll probably find, though, that you will have to put the cover letter in
a separate section because it has different margins or some other different
formatting. If so, you can just unlink the header or footer (wherever the
page number is) between the letter and the following section, omit (or
remove) the page number from Section 1, and start page numbering at 1 in
Section 2.

That was helpful. Now what if I did not want the first number to appear
until the third page. I would want the order to be as such:
Cover Letter - No Page Number
Title Page - No Page Number Shown, but actually number 1
Introduction - Page Number shown as 2/21
Continue as such.

In that case, you'll need a section break between the cover letter and the
rest; you use "Different first page" in Section 2 to allow you to omit the
page number on page 1 (that is, from the First Page Header/Footer). You
still start page numbering at 1, but page 2 will be the first page on which
it is displayed.
