Adding data to a chart independently of other data

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I need to add data to a chart independent of data already in existence on the chart.

The data that is already present is a standard curve and the data I need to add will be a single point but I need it to not be a part of the curve and stand out.

I'm new to the Mac system and Excel 2008 so any help will be appreciated! Thank you!

Easiest way is to add another series with one data point.

XL can do this automatically, e.g.:

A B C
1 X Y1 Y2
2 1 2
3 2 4
4 3 8
5 4 16 12
6 5 32
7 6 64

Select A1:C7, choose an XY Scatter chart from the elements gallery.
