Adding Date & Time Stamp

S

Skiefliers

I am used to Outlook on a PC. I added to the toolbar the "Date & Time Stamp"
button so that I can put that in my emails. I tried setting that up in
Entourage 2007 in my MacBook and can't seem to find it. I tried to Google
this subject and am not able to find that anywhere. To be clear, I would
like to manually add the "Date & Time Stamp" in my emails. I see that button
in Notes but that is not where I want to use it. Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated.

I did this with SpellCatcherX <http://www.spellcatcher.com/>
using a shortcut (insertdt). SpellCatcherX's feature to use shorthands to
insert text is invaluable to me. I wrote about it and other applications
that you can use you might like to check out.

Insert text automatically into a message (Part One)

<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2007/07/insert_text_automatically_into.html>

This option is not available in Entourage's message window. Send Microsoft
feedback to add this to the list for features you would like to see added.

Send feedback to Microsoft.

When working in Office, you can use the ³Send Feedback² option under the
Help menu in all of the Office applications or visit

Hey Mickey,

Thank you so much for getting back to me, trying to help. I must be a dufus.
I tried to go to both of the web sites that you provided and was not able to
find anything that was related to "Date Stamp". If you have the time and
patience, would you be able to provide a few more details as to what to do
after I go to those sites? I really do appreciate all of your assistance.

Check out Paul Berkowitz's free "Date Stamp" script, available from his

In Entourage 2004 & 2008, which supports services, you can do this using
DEVON Technologies's free WordService service.
<http://www.devon-technologies.com/download/index.html>

After downloading and installing, go to Entourage > Services > Insert to
insert the date and time.

Sorry I wasn't clear the first time around. Below is a direct download link
for Paul Berkowitz's script. You can then unstuff the .sit file yourself
using StuffIt Expander <http://my.smithmicro.com/mac/stuffitexpander/> if it
doesn't expand automatically. The resulting folder called "Date Stamp"
includes the script along with a ReadMe with detailed instructions on how to
install and use:

Hi Mickey,

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your time in assisting me. I followed
the links that you provided and downloaded the Stuffit file. I then went to
the Date Stamp link and downloaded that. I then Expanded the Stuffit,
searched for the Date Stamp folder, tried to open the Date Stamp X 1.0.1,
then t says "Unable to Determine File Format. If you have the time, any
assistance would help.

Thank you,
Patrick

It seems to work for me. In any case, I put the folder into a ZIP archive
that might be easier to open on your computer. Download it from my site at
the link below. The system should be able to open the ZIP file
automatically, or if you double-click it. The folder that appears has a
read me with installation instructions.
