adding different language version to my existing site

I have an exisiting website but would like to offer my
visitors the option of reading it in different languages.
I've seen some other sites offer this with different flags
on their homepage.

How would I go around offering this to? Would I need to
duplicate my site into every language? Where do I get the
language translations & flags from?

Yes
You would have to create a subweb in each language and do your own translations (or contract out the translations)
