Adding Document Imaging after deployment

S

Simon Collier

After deploying MS Office 2007 to 150 machines using System Center Essentials
I found out the Document Imaging component was missing from my final
deployment MST. Is there a way to install this component on it's own? I'd
prefer not to run a "modify install" on all those machines as I believe it
requires a new deployment using SCE, and of course all the testing that goes
along with it.

Thanks!
Simon

Dear Simon,

From my view, we may create an Office Setup customization file and use
Group Policy to assign computer startup scripts to point to Office Setup
customization file. For more information to achieve this, please refer to
the following articles:

Thanks for your response, Steven.

So if I am understanding you, I should modify my MST file then redeploy
Office?

Dear Simon,

Yes, we need to modify the MST file and use Group Policy to assign computer
startup scripts to point to the MST file.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for getting back to me, and sorry for my late response I just got
back from vacation.

If there is no seperate installer (.msi etc) for the document imaging
component only then I'll use your method to add in the component.

Thanks for you help, Steven!

Hi Simon,

There is not a separate .MSI for just MS Office Document Imaging. It is an
optional component of the Office 2007 product suite package you use.

You mentioned an MST (MS Transform) file, but MST files apply to prior
versions of Office, not to 2007. Office 2007 supports MS Installer patch
file (MSP)customization in deployments of Office 2007 and these can be
created from within the Office 2007 setup.exe program with the built-in
Office 2007 Customization Tool (OCT).

However, MSPs would not work under Group Policy deployment. Please see the
information in the links from Steven's prior messages to specific parts of
the Office 2007 Resource Kit (http://microsoft.com/office/ork) relative to
deployment with and without scripts/GPO and the use of the OCT.

Note that the MS Office Document Imaging printerdriver is only available to
32-bit Windows system desktop deployments.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for getting back to me, and sorry for my late response I just got
back from vacation.

If there is no seperate installer (.msi etc) for the document imaging
component only then I'll use your method to add in the component.

Thanks for you help, Steven!>>
