Adding e-mail address to From:

M

Mike Stevens

Hello,

I am running Outlook 2002 in corporate mode. I would like have the
From: field look like "My Name <[email protected]>". If I change the
Display Name in Active Directory, I can make e-mail look like the
above example.

Is there a better way to do this? One that could be done by a non
administrator (i.e. from somewhere in Outlook its self) would be best.
Thanks in advance,

M

I wasn't aware there was more than one From: field. I'm referring to
the name of the sender of the e-mail. It seems to be the first field
in an e-mail when mail is opened in Outlook, at least in the default
configuration. That's the 'MAIL FROM' in a SMTP conversation.

That's why your question confused me. The From field is determined by the
sender not the recipient. How could the recipient software change it?

Of course I send mail with Outlook too ;-). Most non-Outlook/Exchange
mail clients I have dealt with allow you to customize the From: field.
Perhaps the Outlook/Exchange combination does not allow this?

As I mentioned, I can change the Display Name in AD, and make the
From: look like what ever I like. I'd like a way for the general user
to do this if at all possible. Thanks for your time, Russ.

There's none that I know of. AFAIK, Outlook just pulls that information from
the message header.
