Adding floating text next to connector arrow

I am trying to add text next to or above connector arrows in a flowchart in
visio. I don't want it in a shape just what i would call floating
text....usually in word i would put it in a text box and remove the box
lines....I haven't used Visio in many years....Any help???

You can use the Visio text box. With no shape selected, click on the
Text Tool (a capital A), move the cursor over your page and the cursor
will change shape to a cross with a text box next to it. Use this to
draw the size of the box you want, then enter the text.
When finished change back to the Pointer tool.
