Adding full stops/periods issue

D

Danny boy

Hi everyone,

I have written a large book in Word (over 100,000 words) but have foolishly
forgotten to add full-stops/periods to the end of some of my sentences and
paragraphs. I need some advice/guidance on whether I can automate this
process in Word. I need to add full-stops/periods according to the following
criteria:
1. Add a full stop if there isn’t one already there
2. Don’t add a full stop if the final character of the sentence/paragraph is
a speech mark ( ’ )

Is there anyway this can be done?

Thanks, Danny.

Not based on what you have told us here.

End of paragraph can be identified and treated according to the rules
(search for not-quote-or-full-stop followed by end of paragraph), but what
distinguishing criteria does end-of-sentence have, except the full stop? It
might be possible to look for upper case letters but they can be used in
many situations.
