Adding Headings 1-5 button to toolbar?

R

Regina

In using Word 2002, I'd like to add a button to my toolbar
for Headings 1-5, if possible.
After explaining how harmful direct formatting (such as
the bullets & number icon) can be with numbered documents,
one of the people I support does not like using the Task
Pane on the right side and asked me to find out how to add
Headings 1-5 directly to the toolbar.
Is this possible? I've done a quick google search but have
only found formatting buttons to be added.
thanks in advance,
Regina

Hi Regina,

First, insert one of each of the heading styles into the current document if
they aren't already there -- the next step will show you only styles that
have been used in the document.

Open the Tools > Customize dialog. If you want these buttons on a separate
toolbar (recommended), click the Toolbars tab, click the New button, and
give the toolbar a name.

On the Commands tab, scroll down the Categories list and click the Styles
item. The Commands list will now contain the available styles (plus some
other style-related stuff). Drag each of the heading styles from that list
to the toolbar. If you want, you can right-click each button and change the
name and/or make an icon for it.

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/AsgnCmdOrMacroToToolbar.htm for
more info.
