adding items to calendar

HELP!!! We are trying to use the calendaring and alert
system to trigger advance action on plant maintenance
anniversaries. When I try to input an item to the
calendar, I get the message "Could not save item. The
messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the
problem persists, restart Outlook" After multpile reties,
with no success, I'm wondering if someone out there can
improve my "outlook" on my software's performance (or help
me correct pilot error"

your Office program version?
