adding midi file to email

I have Outlook 2000 and want to add a midi file to open
when the email is opened. I have tried several times and
have failed. The only way I can get it to open and play
is when I select the edit button. What am I doing wrong?
I have used Outlook Express in the past and of course it
was a no brainer.
