adding new colour palette to template

I have to create a series of templates and they have requested a custom
colour palette showing approximately 10 colours not currently listed.
I know this can be achieved but not sure how.

Help gratefully received.

Which Word version? A custom palette to colour what?
It is not possible to change the colour palette, but you may be able to
cobble something together with a userform that would work instead - see
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Highlighter.htm for an example.
