Adding numbers in a column

I would like to be able to have a column total numbers as
I type them in. e.g. in column A1, I type 12+12-3. When I
hit enter I want the total of 21 to appear in that
column. I have done this before but have misplaced
my "cheat sheet" with the instructions.
