Adding Office Document Imaging and OCR to Home and Student 2007

HorseDoc

I purchased the Home and Student Version of Office 2007 and the Document
Imaging/OCR tool is not a part of this suite. How can I get this tool and
add it to my software?

I already tried this. According to the software documentation, it's not
available in the Home and Student Verstion.

It's not installed by default. Put the disk back in and do a custom

I have Office 2007 Home & Student, and I have Document Imaging and OCR
installed. Put your disc in and go to Control Panel|Programs and
Features|Microsoft Office H&S|Change|Add or Remove Features|Installation
Options|Office Tools|Microsoft Office Document Imaging|etc....

Yea, Doc, I bet they're right. I have Office 2003 and for years never knew
there were other options I could have installed initially. Finally, someone
on one of these groups clued me in and there are a bunch of things, e.g.
document imaging, document scanning, Office picture manager (good one), etc.
I think the OCR works reasonably well, too.

I think you're in luck!! :)

I tried this exactly as you instructed. When I expanded the Office Tools and
then the Micrrosoft Office Document Imaging, the Document Image Writer was
already installed, but the Scanning, OCR and Indexing feature had a red X
marked through it, meaning it's not available. I went through the
installation process anyway, but nothing happened!

Not Available means the feature is not installed. You need to select an
install option from the drop down list such as run on my computer.

If Microsoft Office Document Imaging is installed, you should find it in
your Program list under Microsoft Office, Office Tools. However, Office
Document Imaging is a feature while Document Image Writer is a "printer".
The feature and the "printer" are installed separately.
