Adding one to a number in a form

I have a table which i need to dispaly and add 1 to the number in the
field based on the last record entered.

field 1 in the table is an auto number field. At the beggining of each
session the user enters the starting number on a form for the +1number
field and it must count sequentally from there. I tried using dmax on
the +1number field that is to increment but it will take the highest
number entered and increment from there. What i need to do is look at
the highest autonumber field but display the +1number field on the
form and add one to that everytime a new record is submitted. any help
would be great.
