adding picture caption

Is there a way in MS Word (2003) to put a picture caption/title below a
picture? I know you can add a so called caption in Word but that's for
labeling things as Figure 1, Figure 2, etc or Table 1, Table 2, etc. I
want to be able to add a caption/title/comment without any numbering.
Can this be done?

Hi, Denis.

Try this.

Insert your picture into the document. Create a Text Box and type in your
caption. Format the text box so you have "No Fill" and "No Line". Drag the
Text Box to where you want the caption.

Good luck,

Well, my first reaction was, yes, this can be done but this is not
realistic when you want/need to do this for a lot of photos. But then
that got me thinking that that is what a macro is for. Fortunately,
I've done Excel VB scripts so it shouldn't be too difficult to create a
macro that adds the text box and once I've got this working it should
be fairly straightforward to add these captions.

So thanks for getting me thinking along these lines.
