Adding sequence numbers to pictures in a document

Maro¹ka krtica

I know how to add sequence numbers to pictures in a document.
Now I'd like to know how to create sequence numbers that restart after each
new Heading 1, for example:
- in the first chapter (Ch. 1), my first picture should be numbered "Picture
1.1 - A stone"
- the second picture in that chapter should be numbered "Picture 1.2 - A
tree" etc.
- similarly in the second chapter, the first picture should be "Picture
2.1 - A house", second "Picture 2.2 - A road" etc.

Is that possible? If so, please tell me how to do it in either Word 2002 or
2003.

Best regards

Hi Maro¹ka,

Are you needing macro code to do this? Or have you simply misposted an end-user
question in a VBA (programming) newsgroup?

Take a look at the Help file in Word (not VBA) on the SEQ field. Pay special
attention to the list of switches. I believe the one you need to add to your
field codes is \s. Alt+F9 toggles field code display on/off.
