Adding shape handles to a shape

My drawing is made from several shapes (not from a template). Lets say one of
those shapes has 15 handles. I know I can delete individual handles if there
are too many, but is there also a way to add more as well? I am at a point
where I need to change some of my shapes, but since I can't figure out how to
add handles I need to do the whole thing over.

right click on your shape and go to its shape sheet. right click on the shape
sheet and select "insert a section", check the controls box, now see that a
controls section has appeared in the shape sheet. right click on any row in
the controls section and select "add row after". the x ,y co-ords are the
positions of the control handles aboard the shape, adjust to suit. viele
