Adding space between characters in text box to fill the width?

Dave

Hello.

I'd like to type text into a textbox and have the characters evenly
spaced to take up the width of the text box... that is, add equal
amounts of space between characters. Is there an easy way to do this?
I tried formatting it as justified, but that didn't seem to help.

Thanks!

I don't know how to do that for a textbox, but if you can use a 1 cell table
instead .. create a table with 1 col & 1 row. Then go into Table properties
& select the Cell Tab then click the options button (bottom right), then
select Fit Text. However, just be aware if the text being typed is wider
then the cell it'll reduce the size of the text to fit the cell.

Highlight your text you want to expand, then Format / Font / Character
Spacing and adjust Spacing from there. I use Word97, but the
adjustment should be similar with newer versions of Word.

Yes, there is an easy way. Pad the letters with spaces so that Word's
justification algorithm treats them as separate words:
p a d t h e m o u t l i k e t h i s.
Then put a hard line break at the end of the justified line.

Thanks for the responses. Since I need to do this programatically, I
think putting spaces between the letters, and allowing Word's
justification to take over works best for me.

thanks again!
