Adding Task/Event to Calendar Gives Wrong Date

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

When I create a new task or event for the calendar the start/completion/reminder dates are not right. If I hit "Today" on the popup calendar it gives me the wrong date. If I hit it again it gives me a different wrong date. If I enter it manually into the line it changes whatever I enter to some random date. Any suggestions?
