Adding text to the slide show while running the slide show

I am making a tic tac toe game and I cannot seem to make the x's and o's
remain on the slide when running the show. I think I need to use a macro,
but I do not know how. I am a 5th grade teacher and the kids are trying to
make a hollywood squares type show. I don't want to get this far and let
them down. Does anyone know what I can do?

There are a number of options for what you want to do. Shyam has given you
a pre-made option, and that might be best. Another option would involve
animation triggers. I can picture a little X and O in the corner of each
square. A big X (either a drawing or a text box) could have an entrance
animation effect that is triggered by clicking on the little X. The same
could go for the O. VBA could also be used to make images appear and
disappear, but I suspect that if you have no VBA experience, using Shyam's
pre-made example or doing something with animation triggers will be
easiest.
