Adding to the character map

How can I add new symobls in to the character map.
I work with a lot of engineering symbols that I have to add to my reports.
Examples would be the symbols for True Position, Run Out, Total Run Out,
ETC...
How can I get these added to the Character map, or can I find them on line
some where.

If the symbols are not already defined in unicode, you can create your own.
I don't know much about this but there a program called eudcedit (the
private character editor), which comes with Windows, that allows you to
create your own symbols in the unicode Private Use area. Googling for it
should provide all the information you need.

I don't know what those look like, but have you looked in the Unicode
block called "Miscellaneous Technical" (U2300-23FF)? There's something
called "Total Runout" at 2330. I find, using the utility BabelMap,
that a little over half the symbols in that Unicode block are included
in ArialUnicode, which came with Office; and 2330 happens to be one of
them.

This link takes you to a list of fonts that cover that block (and the
other symbol blocks), and then you can poke around in the site to find
where to download what you might need.
