Adding two fields together to total another field.

Hi, I am trying to create a database for a service department. I want to sum
up all of the hours in each field to total the "total collectable hours"
field. I heard that you shouldn't do it in the actual table, so where and how
would I be able to do this?

You should not save a calculated value in any table. You should do the
calculation on a form, in a report, or in a query when either you need it for
another calculation or you need to present it to a user.
