adding unbound cmbobox to main switchboard page

hi,

i am running a2k and one of the users of the mdb i created (in part using
the switchboard manager) thinks they could use the benefit of a filter that
would restrict their view of "Patient Numbers" viewable from the menu bars on
the s'board which lead to data entry forms. what they're asking for is a way
to select a "Patient Number" early on in their use of it and then know that
whenever they're editing/reviewing/adding data in a form that that form's
only for the designated "Patient Number". "Patient Number" is entered in a
"Patient Registration" form which is available to them on the first menu page
as the top most menu bar. what i though i would do is add a unbound combobox
on the same page which gets the "Patient Number" from the table behind the
"Patient Registration" form. i did and when i opened the switchboard in view
mode it wasn't visible although its property is set to be so.

is this just outside the realm of doability?
