Adding unwanted rows at bottom of spreadsheet

I have a long spreadsheet, approx. 700 rows. It adds thousands of rows to the bottom of the spreadsheet, which makes it very difficult to utilize the scroll bar.
When I have copied my file into a new spreadsheet to eliminate this problem, it regenerates itself just about immediately. I've never seen anyone write in about this problem.
Suggestions?
