I want to make a new or additional "row" of column names (Feild); thus
making the existing column names "sub-names" or "sub-categories".

This just isn't the way that Access works - field names really should not
have much meaning in themselves. If you explain a bit more about what your
database is for and why you need to create categories and sub categories
then I'm sure you'll get some useful answers.

Categories and subcategories are created by creating relationships between
linked tables. I suspect that you are thinking in terms of spreadsheet
rather than database design.
