I backed up all my Office 10 folders on external hard drive. How can I find
the contact list?

The contact list is part of your Outlook.pst file.

Here is some excellent methods to backing up and restoring the file,
including how to locate it:

Outlook saves the data as .pst file. However you can export individual items in outlook ( Ex- calender ,mail , task , contacts etc)
