Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: intel
Email Client: pop

I installed Office 2008, without thinking about contacts in Entourage. The installation program asked me to throw out Office 2004 and empty trash before continuing. I di so assuming that all the contacts from entrouage 2004 had been applied to 2008. They had not. There is nothing in there and now I don;t have my Office 2004! Are my contacts stored or archived somewhere on my Mac that I can retrieve them? If so where and how
Thanks

Did you select to Import from Entourage 2004? It should have brought over
your contacts. You can still import if you did not trash your Office 2004
Identities folder in the Microsoft User Data folder.

Select Import --> first option from an earlier version, select your
Entourage 2004 Identity.

You might want to do this in a test Identity in case you have mail you do
not want duplicated or moved into your current Identity.

Thanks Diane. Okay so I went through the procedure you recommended. I found in Documents/Microsoft User Data Folder/then a number of options including Entourage Script Menu Items, Entourage Sound Sets and Entourage Temp, non of which would give me access to anything. I also found Office 2004 Identities/Main Identities/ Database, but could not get access to the database.

There are also Microsoft 2008 Identities and Microsoft X Identities in the Microsoft User Data Folder which both lead to the same inaccessible database option. So no joy so far. Is there anything else you can suggest?

Select via the Entourage Import the Main Identity not the database file.

Main Identity is a folder which has the database file in it and that is the same on all identity folders but can't access the database file

Exactly what does it say when you select the Main Identity to import?

You can re-install Office 2004, open your Identity and export your contacts.

It doesn't "say" anything. Main Identity is identified as a folder and when clicked on indicates a database file that is in that folder but is not bold and therefore cannot be accessed via the entourage import process. Not sure how it would be accessible unless, as you suggest, I re-install Office 2004. Unless you have any other suggestions I will go ahead with this and see what happens. Thanks

Check out this screenshot. This is what you should be seeing when importing.

I'm not sure you are following the correct process.
