Address Book error but Contacts working

J

Jon

hi

my contacts are all present in the contacts folder but
when trying to click the "To" button on new e-mail or
tryign to load the address book for quick contact access i
get an error saying the folder has been moved or deleted.

All contacts are in outlook though, plus i have pulled in
old e-mails that are there somewhere but not visible in
any folder. I can review old e-mails sent via person
through the contacts folder though. how can i recreate the
emails so they are all in correct folders?

thanks
Jon

What version of Outlook are you using, and if 98 or 2000, what mail support
mode? If you're not sure, look at the second line of Help | About Microsoft
Outlook -- it should say "Internet Mail Only" or "Corporate/Workgroup".
(Outlook 97, 2002, and 2003 don't have separate modes.)

Can you find the missing messages via the Advanced Find feature?

Im using Outlook 2002.
I installed 2003 server and brought in a .pst file with
all previous Outlook e-mails, folders and contacts. it
only brings in some of the folders , loads all the
contacts into contacts folder but doesnt add them to the
address book.

Cant find them in advanced find but in contacts it lists
all the emails sent and received by people. these emails
are not found anywhere else in outlook

The Address Book issue should be an easy fix. It's a common occurrence when
moving things around -- the association between the Contacts folder and the
Outlook Address Book gets broken. To fix it, go to Tools | E-mail accounts,
select "View or change existing directories or address books", and click
Next. If you don't see the OAB in the Directories and Address Books list,
click the Back button, then select "Add a new directory or address book",
then "Additional Address Books", and add the OAB. Then keep clicking Back
until you get back to the first dialog box, and go back to the Directories
and Address Books list as you did earlier.

Once the OAB appears in the list, select it and then click Change to make
sure the Contacts folder(s) you want to display are listed. If any of them
aren't listed, you'll need to enable those Contacts folders as Outlook
Address Books by right clicking the folder, selecting Properties, clicking
the Outlook Address Book tab, and checking the "Show this folder as an
E-mail address book" box. Make sure you restart Outlook after making these
changes.

As for the missing e-mails: Are you using the Activities tab within a
contact record to find the messages associated with that contact? If so,
you should be seeing the folder name that each message is located in. If
you're not using the Activities tab, how are you calling up the list of
messages?
