Address Book list empty after upgrade to Windows 7

P

prender

I installed Win7 64bit and used Windows Easy Transfer to re-install my
settings for Office 2007. My Contacts and Email transferred intact. But my
address book was empty. Following a suggestion from Diane Poremsky [MVP] I
carefully made a new Outlook profile and added my old Outlook.pst file to it
using her instructions.
This almost fixed the problem.
Now I can use Address Book to search my Contacts and find, for example, all
Contacts named Eric. But the Address Book list is still empty and I can't
point and click to add contacts as recipients to an email like I used to.
Is there any way to populate the Address Book list with all my Contacts?

Easy Transfer is never easy when it comes to outlook.

If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings:

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If this is grayed out...

Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or
address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add
it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close
then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.

If you are using Outlook 2007 and the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to
make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service due to
a bug.
