I want to backup my Outlook 2000 contacts. Where is the
file? Or just tell me the extension and I can Find it.
Same with the email folders file.
Also, where is my IE 6.0 Favorites file so I can back it
up? Or again, what is the extension?
If I back it up using a backup program like NTI Backup
which writes on my CD-RW, and then my c: drive crashes,
will I be able to restore these files to a new c: drive
or a new computer? Is it as simple as just copying them
into the correct folder on the new drive?

Your Outlook data (everything) is in a .pst file. This will have your mail,
contacts, appointments, tasks, journal, etc.

If you back this up to a CD, be sure to copy the file back to your hard
drive (any location, probably My Documents is best if you back that up
regularly) and remove the read-only attribute from its properties page.
Then, open Outlook and use File->Open->Outlook Data File to access your
information. Do not import unless you don't mind losing received dates,
custom forms, connections between your contacts and activities, birthdays
and anniversaries from your calendar... you get the idea. Import=BAD.
