address book searching on first name instead of last name

I exported my personal folders from an old machine running
Outlook 2000 SP-3 to a new machine running Outlook 2003.

The address book came across with all entries and looks
fine...but when I go into the address book to send an
email and type the name of the contact I want to select,
it tries to match on first name...in Outlook 2000, it
searched last name and that is much better for me. I
never know whether I entered a nickname or just a first
initial but the last name is always there in full. this
makes the program very hard to use.

Any ideas?

Did you set it correctly? Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing
directories or address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your
sort order there

That did it. Thank you. I must be getting old. Microsoft
stuff rarely seems logical to me. I would have expected to
be able to change the sort order of my address book from
the address book...not from email account...

It gets worse. The method to change the sort order changes with every
version.
