Address book unable to have last name first in outlook 2000

I cannot get my e-mail address book to show addresses with the last
name first despite doing all suggested i.e. a recent one:-

You can alphabetize in your address book by Last Name by going to
Tools, Services, Double click on Outlook Address Book and choosing
Last Name, First Name on the right hand side.
when i try this there is no Services in the tools dropdown list
anyone any ideas
all the best

"Services" appears on the Tools menu if you have Outlook 2000 configured
in Corporate/Workgroup mode. If you have "Accounts" on the Tools menu
instead, you must have Outlook installed in Internet Mail Only mode. To
sort the Address Book by last name in Outlook 2000, IMO mode: Open the
Address Book, select Tools | Sort By, and select both Name and Last
Name.

.

I am using Outlook 2002, and also do not have a services
menu choice. When I open the address book, the only
choices I have under tools are:

Find
Options

And neither of these choices seem to give me a choice on
how to sort my addressbook.

Also, as a side question. Is there any way to
delete/erase the prior choices that show up on the
outlook "find" spot on the addressbook spot on the
toolbar at the top. (I have tried such things as using
the delete keystroke, like you can with internet
explorer, as well as searching for the list in windows
registry file.....but cannot find these enties.

Thank you.

Ahh...didn't know you were using Outlook 2002. OL2002 doesn't have
separate modes so all of us have the same Tools menu choices (except
possibly when there are add-ins installed that may add menu commands).
For Outlook 2002, the following MSKB article gives instructions for
sorting the address book:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319142

For your other question, I don't think there's any way to erase previous
entries in the "Find contact" dropdown.

Well done worked fine thank you very much. I forgot in my original
question to say I was working in 2002 also.
thanks once again
