Address Book v.s. Contacts

Jay Martin

I want to maintain only my business contacts in
the "Contacts" folder and my personal contacts in
the "Address Book". My system is combining them
under "Contacts" however so I am unable to keep them
separated. Is there a way to keep the two data lists
separate?

Rather extreme. No need for two PST's and a lot of disadvantages.
Just create separate Contacts Folders in your current PST.

Hi Jay,

The separate folder is a good idea. You could also assign categories to
them. "Business" and "Personal" then view just the contacts for one
category at a time. Or do a mail merge for contacts of just one category,
etc.

A benefit of this is that a contact could belong to both the personal and
business category, if you want. And maybe also a "holiday cards" category,
etc.

BTW - in regards to the address book. Although MS still supports it, it is
my understanding they're moving away from it and trying to discourage new
users from using it. Newer versions of Outlook are designed with the
Contacts folder in mind for storing email addresses.

You're talking about the old Personal Address Book here, not the Outlook
Address Book. Outlook is not moving away from use of the Outlook Address
Book. It moved away from the Personal Address Book years ago.
